OBITUARY: Clarence Oscar Huset, 1884-1939
Clarence Oscar Huset, son of Ole and Kari Lundene Huset, was born at Black Earth, Wisconsin, on April 10, 1884. His father preceded him in death in 1890 and shortly thereafter he came with his mother to Emmetsburg, Iowa. Later they moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa, and before his marriage be worked for some time on farms in the Rock Creek community.
On February 7, 1909 he entered into matrimony with Alma Olson at the Rock Creek Lutheran church. After their marriage they lived for some time at St. Ansgar and in the Rock Creek community before moving to Parkers Prairie, MN where they lived until 1920. They then returned to the Rock Creek community, where he has lived until the time of his death, and had been engaged in painting and delivering cream.
In his wedlock four children were born. Mr. Huset was baptized at the church in Black Earth, WI and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church of which he has been an active member until the time of his death.
Besides his wife, the following children survive: Mrs. Eugene (Leona) Estal, Mrs. Alvin (Clarice) Kalke, Carmen and Merlyn Huset, all of this community. Others surviving include: three sisters, Mrs. Iver Halvorson, of this vicinity; Mrs. Carl Johnson, of Northwood, IA, Mrs. John Peterson, of Mason City, IA; also five grandchildren, and a large number of nephews and nieces.
During the last five years of his life Mr. Huset has been in poor health, but has been able to attend to his work until the time of his death. Sitting in his car as he and his son, Carmen, had just come to Osage; he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, July 2, 1939. The cause of his death was heart failure.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre from his home at 1:00 o'clock, and at the Rock Creek Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, July 27, 1939. Interment was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
