Ole C. Eidahl, son of Christian and Ingebor Eidahl, was born at Naes, Hallingdal, Norway, October 7, 1847. He was baptized at the Lutheran church at Naes in early infancy and confirmed at the same church in 1861.

Both his parents died while he was still a young boy.

He emigrated from Norway in 1873 and came to Rock Prairie, Wisconsin. On July 4, 1878, he married Miss Antonette Swain.

In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Eidahl moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa, and at once settled on the old Clyde farm, two miles north of St. Ansgar, where they lived for five years, at which time they bought the old Alexander place, half way between St. Ansgar and Carpenter, and at once moved to this place where they farmed for over thirty-two years, at the end of which time they moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa, where they bought the E.A. Sponheim residence, which has been their home ever since.

The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Eidahl was blessed with six children, Oscar Eidahl of Marion, N.D.; Albert Eidahl of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Mrs. A.A. Groth of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Mrs. C. Duncan of Mitchell, Iowa; Mrs. Orval Pembrook of Lyle, Minn., and Wenzel Eidahl of Colesburg, Iowa. These children all survive Mr. Eidahl as do also his deeply sorrowing wife, one brother, H.C. Eidahl, of Orfordville, Wisconsin, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Thompson of Sadkatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Julia Goeson of Minot, N.D. Mr. Eidahl is also survived by twelve grandchildren. The children were all present at the funeral.

Mr. Eidahl has suffered for some time with heart trouble, brights disease and asthma. About a month ago his condition became much more serious and he has been a constant sufferer ever since.

During his long sickness he was always patient in his suffering. He kept very close to God in prayer and often asked his dear ones to pray for him. He often talked about being a poor undeserving sinner and he often expressed his faith in Jesus and said he longed to go home to stay with the Savior. At times he wondered why it was so long in coming and he often expressed his joy at the thought of an early coming of his dear Savior.

Mr. Eidahl died on March 19th at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 12 days.

The funeral took place on Sunday morning, March 22, at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, his pastor, Rev. M.E. Waldeland, officiating, and he was laid to rest at the Evergreen cemetery north of St. Ansgar.

Present at the funeral from away were: C.O. Eidahl of Marion, N.D.; W.L. Eidahl of Colesburg, Iowa; Alton Groth of Iowa City, Iowa; Mrs. H. Benson of Lansing, Minn.; Mrs. H. Medgorden of Lansing, Minn.; E.O. Entestad of Lansing, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Thompson of Austin, Minn.; E.M. Swain and O.E. Swain of Zumbrota, Minn.
