Henry Mielke Dies Saturday; Last Rites Conducted Tuesday

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Immanuel’s Lutheran Church for Henry Mielke, age 77, who died at his home here Saturday afternoon following an illness of several months. The Reverend Paul Brammer was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Henry Mielke was the son of Ludwig Mielke and Louise, nee Bartz, and was born June 18, 1864, at Watertown, Wisconsin where he was baptized. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Leeds, Wisconsin on May 10, 1877, where he had moved with is parents on a farm,

On April 2, 1891, he was joined in marriage with Helene Rosenberg by the Reverend J. Westenberger at Rock Creek. They then took over the Mielke homestead at Leeds, Wisconsin, and lived there until May, 1906, when they came to St. Ansgar. With the exception of a few years they lived at Wheaton, Minnesota, they have made their home at St. Ansgar for the past 35 years.

To this union three children were born, two sons and a daughter. Mr. Mielke enjoyed good health until about three years ago when his heart began to trouble him and he subsequently developed a dropsical condition. During the past year he had been in a very weakened condition.

Last Saturday afternoon he arose to sit in a chair when he breathed his last at 3:15.

He is survived by his widow, his two sons, E. H. Mielke of Wheaton, Minnesota, and Clarence at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Ervia Alrecht of St. Ansgar. Also surviving are three grandchildren and one brother Reverend Louis Mielke of Milwaukee.

Mrs. Mielke had been a faithful member of Immanuel’s Lutheran Church for the past thirty years.

Those from away who attended the services were reverend and Mrs. Lousi Mielke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Oswald Boehm, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Boehm, Walter Mielke, all of De Forest, Wisconsin; Mrs. Martin Mantha, Herbert and Bernie Wernick of Leeds, Wisconsin; Mrs. Elizabeth Mielke, Dexter, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Mielke and daughter Flora Jean of Wheaton, Minnesota.
