OBITUARY: Glendon A. Horgen, 1914-1965
Funeral services for Glendon Horgen, 50, were held Friday afternoon at Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Osage. Mr. Horgen died of a heart attack while en route to Mitchell County Memorial hospital from his farm home near McIntire. His daughter, Mrs. Donald Wright of Orchard, was bringing him to the hospital after he became ill at home.
The Rev. Obert Hoven, associate pastor of Our Savior’s, assisted the Rev. Harold Mountain, pastor of Maple Leaf Lutheran church where Mr. Horgen attended church. C.R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements and burial was in the Osage cemetery.
Glendon Aldis Horgen was born on a farm south of Osage on July 1, 1914, the son of Edwin and Olga Lundene Horgen. He grew to manhood in Mitchell County and was graduated from Osage High School in 1932.
He was baptized and confirmed at Osage Lutheran, now Our Savior’s Lutheran. He confirmation class was the first class confirmed bythe Rev. T.P. Solem on May 19, 1929.
His marriage to Mary Belle Fleenor of Osage took place at the parsonage of Osage Lutheran church on November 3, 1938, the Rev. Mr. Solem in charge. The established their first home in Mitchell county and he remained a farmer until his death.
Mrs. Horgen has been ill for several months and is a patient at Mitchell County Memorial hospital where she had undergone surgery two weeks ago.
He was a member of the Lutheran church and the Mitchell County Farm Bureau.
Mr. Horgen is survived by his wife, Mary Belle, his father, Edwin of Osage; three children, Mrs. Donald (Charlotte) Wright of Orchard and Helen and Lowell, at home. One sister, Mrs. Robert (Marvelyn) Frank of Des Plaines, Illinois, also survives.
