STACYVILLE, IOWA - Joseph Oliver Eggers, 93, of Stacyville, died on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Dale Christiansen of Crane Community Chapel officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.

STACYVILLE, Iowa — Joseph Oliver Eggers, 93, of Stacyville, Iowa, died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage, Iowa.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Dale Christiansen of Crane Community Chapel officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Joseph was born on October 26, 1916, in Nora Springs, Iowa, to J.M. and Harriet (Hanna)Eggers. He married Mary Sue Bobier on Sept. 30, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa, at the First Methodist Church.

Joe was a civilian aircraft engineer for Lockheed and Boeing during World War II in all three theaters. He was a flightline technician for Boeing for 20 years, with one of his projects being working on the Minute Man missiles. He farmed south of Lyle for 18 years. Joe was also a mechanic and greens keeper for the Austin Country Club for many years.

After he retired he took up locksmithing. Joe enjoyed fishing, camping, water skiing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Ivan; and two sisters, Leola and Ruth.

Joe is survived by his wife, Mary of Stacyville; three sons, Jody (Joe) Eggers of Stacyville, John Eggers and his wife, Susan Eggers, of Rochester and James Eggers of Stacyville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
