ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Services for Raymond Hartwig, 54, who died Thursday at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, of a lingering illness, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Carpenter Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Mrs. Duane [Audrey] Miller of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Connie at home; four sons: Arlyn of Davenport, Andy of St. Ansgar, Craig of Austin, Minnesota, and Michael at home; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Ella Hartwig of St. Ansgar; one sister, Mrs. Alvin Bartz of Grafton; and two brothers, Rudolph of Postville and Wilmer of St. Ansgar.
The Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

#2:ILLNESS FATAL TO
RAYMOND HARTWIGFuneral services for a prominent St. Ansgar man, Raymond Hartwig, 54, were held Sunday afternoon. Mr. Hartwig had been hospitalized four weeks and died February 25.
Rev. Norman Betke, pastor, was in charge of the services at Immanuel Lutheran church, and arrangements were by Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home. Burial was in the Carpenter cemetery.
Raymond Alfred Hartwig was born on July 31, 1916, in Newburg township, the son of Julius Hartwig and Ella Hollatz Hartwig. He was baptized on September 17, 1916 at Toeterville by Rev. E. Lehmann. He was confirmed by the Rev. Paul Brammer, on March 20, 1932, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He attended the Otranto school, from which he graduated in 1933.
He was married to Lorraine Ruechel at Immanuel Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, on August 25, 1940.
Mr. Hartwig was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a Sunday school deacon, a member of the ASC committee, 4-H leader for five years, served on the extension council for three years, was township clerk for 25 years, was on the election board for 25 years, and at the time of his death was vice president of the Beef Producers of Mitchell County. He farmed all his life until his health failed.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; six children: Mrs. Duane (Audrey) Miller of Stillwater, Minnesota, Arlynn of Davenport, Andy of St. Ansgar, Craig of Austin, Connie and Michael at home; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Julius Hartwig of St. Ansgar; two brothers, Rudolph of Postville, Wilmer of St. Ansgar; and one sister, Mrs. Alvin (Vera) Bartz of Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Julius Hartwig.
