Memorial services for Merle Odell Ellingson, 63, of Northwood, who died Friday, August 12, 1988 at home, were held Tuesday, August 16 at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, with the Rev. Mark Gravdal, pastor of First Lutheran church, Northwood, officiating.

Mr. Ellingson was born Friday, 1925 at St. Ansgar, to Martin and Olivia (Evenson) Ellingson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, and attended school in St. Ansgar. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific and Japan.

He married Rose Mary Orth on February 4, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran parsonage at Charles City. He worked for Interstate Power Company in St. Ansgar until retiring in 1974. They moved to Northwood from St. Ansgar in 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary of Northwood; three daughters, Colette J. Ellingson of St. Ansgar, Mrs. David (Ann) Tyler of Mason City, and Barbara J. Garcia of Sherman, Tex.; one son, Kenneth of Jamestown, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Katherine) Asfahl of Louisville, Ky. and Mrs. Carol (Delores) Robinson of Leesville, La.; four brothers, Marloe of Hampton, Sheryl of Osage, Garry of Austin, Minn. and Larry of Litton, N.D.; five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
