Hazel H. Duenow, 95, of 651 6th St. SE, Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Hazel was born April 22, 1909 in Mitchell County, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Isabelle Swain Priem. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar on Pentecost Sunday and confirmed September 30, 1923 at the same church. She received her education at Otranto Consolidated School and graduated from high school there May 20, 1926. Following graduation, she remained at home with her parents assisting them with the many duties on the farm. She was united in marriage December 20, 1928 to Elmer Duenow at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. That date was the anniversary of her parents and Elmer's parents marriage. Following their marriage, they resided for 2 1/2 years with Elmer's parents on their farm and then moved to Mason City where they spent practically all of their remaining years.

Hazel is survived by her two sons, Gerald M. Duenow and wife, Barbara, of Cedar Rapids, Gene A. Duenow and wife, Kathleen of Tulsa, OK; sister, Ruth Robertson of St. Ansgar; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Hazel's parents, husband, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
