NORTHWOOD, IOWA -- Mae Braun, 82, formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died on THursday, December 31, 2009 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood, Iowa. Funeral service was on January 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.
Mae was born on July 21, 1927 in Waltham, Minnesota, to Carl and Amanda (Gade) Griese. She married Wilfred Braun on September 24, 1944 in Austin, Minnesota. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, garage sales, cooking and baking. Her church was a very important part of her life. Mae liked to collect salt and pepper shakers, tea cups, china dolls and stuffed animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Lawrence.
Mae is survived by three daughters; Eva Brass of Forest City, Iowa, Carol Tackett of Butler, Missouri, and Susan (Dave) Hartwig of Northwood, Iowa; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Audrey) Griese of Big Lake, Minnesota, Leonard (Terri) Griese, Owatonna, Minnesota; Ruth Houff of Austin, Minnesota, Betty Borotz of Golden Valley, Minnesota, June (Donald) Hafften of Rochester, Minnesota, Verna (Charles) Hafften of Hudson, Wisconsin.
