DIES AT OSAGEFuneral Will Be Held
at Champion's ParlorsOsage, Iowa - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Champion's funeral home for Mrs. George H. Black, 85, who died Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Isabelle Black. The Rev. Glen Hartong, Methodist pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Osage cemetery.
She was born Martha Ellen Clark, daughter of Julia Ann and Alexander Clark, May 23, 1858, at Moselle, Mo. She spent her girlhood in Missouri.
She married George H. Black at Union, Mo., March 18, 1885, and for 12 years they resided on a farm near Union. In 1897 they moved to Mitchell County, Iowa, living on farms in Burr Oak and Liberty Townships. In 1917 they retired to Osage, where her husband died in 1922.
Three children were born. Isabelle Black, the oldest, has been with her mother, caring for her during her illness of the past three years. James Elmer and Virginia Ellen, twins, were born to the couple, Virginia Ellen dying in infancy.
Surviving are her two children, James Elmer, Hock township, and Isabelle, In Osage, and three grandchildren.
