Funeral Held For
Fred E. Brandt, 82

Funeral services for Fred E. Brandt, 82 of St. Ansgar, were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, March 18, 1967 The Reverend Norman Betke was in charge. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Frederick Edward Brandt, son of Frederich Henry and Emilie Schroeder-Brandt, was born September 19, 1884, in Union Township, Mitchell County. He was baptized and confirmed by the Reverend George landgrebe of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Union Township. His education was received at Union Township rural school and at the St. Ansgar seminary.

He was married to Ella S. Schmidt December 1, 1912. Mr. Brandt was in the mercantile business in St. Ansgar and St. Paul, Minnesota for a few years. After his father retired from the family farm, Fred farmed the rest of his active years in Newburg and Otranto Townships. He and his wife spent their years of retirement in Austin and St. Ansgar.

In April 1966, Mr. Brandt entered the Good Samaritan Center where he died March 16, 1967.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella, who died April 25, 1962; and by his son, Frederick Marvin, February 26, 1932, his parents, and one brother and sister.

Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Olson of Austin; one grandson; his sisters, Mrs. J.L. Carter of Butte, Montana, and Alma M. Brnadt of Marshalltown; one nephew and one niece.
