BEA THORESEN

OSAGE, IOWA - Bea Thoresen, 78, of Osage, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. Bea was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Cressey. She graduated from Austin High School in 1940.

She was a tap dance instructor in Austin for several years at her dance school "Beatrice Cressey School of Dancing." She was united in marriage to Leonard Thoresen on July 7, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Austin. They farm east of Osage.

Bea was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Rebecca Circle and the church choir there. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour before services at the church.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard, of Osage; daughter, Susan Roetman and her husband, Michael, of Rock Rapids, and their children, Jennifer and Jessica; four sons, Philip Thoresen, of Osage, Jim Thoresen, of Nora Springs, Brian Thoresen, of Osage, and Ken Thoresen, of Austin, Texas; one sister, Jeannette McKinnon, of Benson, Ariz.; and one brother, Charles Cressey and his wife, Lorraine, of Seattle, Wash.

She was preceded in death by parents; one sister, Genevieve Cressey.
