OBITUARY: Shallia J. Buntrock, 1939-1996

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Shallia J. Buntrock, 56, of St. Ansgar, died Tuesday (June 11, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with the Rev. Dr. David H. Palm officiating.

Burial will be at a later date.

Shallia J. Buntrock was born June 15, 1939, in Worth County.

Survivors include her mother, Bernice Behrends of Albert Lea, Minn.; one daughter, Karla Buntrock of Austin, Minn.; two sons, Dean Buntrock of St. Ansgar, and Glen Buntrock of Toeterville; three sisters, Bernadine Latham of Minneapolis, Minn.; Donna Oakland of Albert Lea, Minn., and Jolene Johnson of Cold Springs, Minn.; two stepsisters, Ardis Waldron of Albert Lea, Minn., and Lolene Welinski of Anoka, Minn.; four brothers, Ardell Tonga of Cambridge, Minn.; Merlyn Tonga of Federal Dam, Minn.; Cledith Tonga of St. Paul, Minn., and Tony Tonga of Faribault, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, stepfather, one brother, one sister and one son.

The Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shallia Buntrock

Funeral services for Shallia Buntrock, 56, who died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, were held Friday, June 14 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with Reverenc Dr. David H. Palm officiating.

Shallia Buntrock was born June 15, 1939 to Della Bernice and Knute A. Tonga of Worth County, Northwood, Iowa. She graduated from Lyle High School in 1957. She married Fred Buntrock, Jr. in June 1957 and they moved to Toeterville where they operated a dairy farm and trucking operation for many years before she moved to St. Ansgar.

Shallia was employed by the St. Ansgar Community School District as a bus driver and cook for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Austin and had been active in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville as a Sunday School teacher and in the ladies circle for years.

She is survived by two sons, Dean of St. Ansgar, and Glen of Toeterville; a daughter, Karla of Austin; daughter-in-law Susan and two grandsons, Eric and Cory, all of St. Ansgar, her mother, Bernice Behrends of Albert Lea, Minnesota; four brothers and one brother-in-law, Ardell and Thelma, Harris, Minnesota, Merlyn and Lucy, Federal Dam, Minnesota; Cledith and Darlene, St. Paul, Minneota; Tony and Mona, Fairbault, Minnesota; Al Cushman, Great Falls, Montana; three sisters and two step sisters, Bernadine Latham, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Donna Belle and Bob Oakland, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Jolene and Larry Johnson, Cold Spring, Minnesota; Ardis Waldron, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Lolene and Gene Welinsk, Anoka, Minnesota; mother-in-law Alvina Barlow of Minneapolis, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wade, her father Knute, step father Herman Behrends, father-in-law Fred Buntrock, a brother Clifford, a sister Gari, and a brother-in-law Warren Latham.

Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
