Laura Klemesrud

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 30, 1988 at Rock Creek Lutheran Chuch, rural Osage, for Laura Klemesrud, 90 of Osage. The Reverend Roger Hoppenworth officiated and burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 29, 1988 at an Osage nursing home.

Mrs. Klemesrud was born March 31, 1897 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, to John Anton and Mary (Paulson) Williams. She attended rural schools in Mitchell County and graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1914. She graduated from normal training at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and taught school for six years in various schools in Mitchell County.

On December 28, 1921 she married Herbert Klemesrud in Osage. They farmed in West Cedar Township until retiring to Osage in 1972.

Mrs. Klemesrud was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church and the ladies aid and circle of the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Patricia) Rothmeyer, Des Moines; two sons, Robert of rural Nora Springs, and Kent of Watsonville, California; 11 grandchildren and eight great –grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Leslie (Alma) Milton of Osage and Mrs. Harland (Ruth) Hackbart, of St. Ansgar.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister; and five brothers.
