Wilbert F. (Bill) Borcherding

Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, 2000 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, for Wilbert F. (Bill) Borcherding, age 86, of St. Ansgar. Reverend Edward Schmidt officiated and burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. He died Friday, June 23, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Bill was born April 23, 1914 in Latimer, Iowa to Henry and Wilhemina (Muhlenbruck) Borcherding. He married Hilma Schmidt on November 6, 1936 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Garner. They farmed in the Hampton area moving to a farm near Lyle, Minnesota in 1950. They moved to St. Ansgar in 1984. Bill and Hilma enjoyed camping and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Carol Mildenstein two sisters; two brothers.

Those that survive him include his wife, Hilma of St. Ansgar; three daughters, Yvonne Bohlman of St. Ansgar, Joyce Gregory of Mesa, Arizona, and Elaine Schrader of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Borcherding of Dennison; one sister, Esther Bender of Cedar Rapids.
