OBITUARY: Florence Borcherding, Mitchell County, Iowa

Mrs. Alvy Borcherding Funeral
Held Tuesday, Aug. 19

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvy Borchering, 61, of Northwood, who died at Mercy hospital in Mason City August 16, were held August 19 at the First Lutheran church in Northwood with the Rev. Allen Hermeier officiating.

Florence Johnson Borcherding was born March 1, 1919, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Parker) Johnson. She attended schools in Carpenter and Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She worked for six years at the Mitchell county Farm Bureau and Extension office, and then was clerk for the Soil Conservation office in Northwood until she retired because of ill health.

Mrs. Borcherding was a member of First Lutheran church, Northwood, was active in church circle work and taught Sunday school for 20 years.

She married Alvy Borcherding June 13, 1946 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter.

Mrs. Borcherding is survived by her husband, Alvy; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Johnson; a son, Ronald of Albert Lea, Minn.; a daughter, Ruth Ann of Northwood; one grandson, Richard; five sisters, Mrs. Lavern (Eleanor) Schollock of Floyd; Mrs. Lowell (Margaret) Olsen, Osage; Mrs. Norman (Mildred) Sponheim of Nora Springs; Mrs. Al (Carol) McLaughlin of Belmond; Mrs. James (Sharon) Boyce of Roseville, Minn; six brothers, Dale, Charles, Harley, Ivan and Kenneth of Osage and Keith Johnson of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence; one sister, Hazel; one brother in infancy.

Burial was in Newburg cemetery, Carpenter, with Rev. Hermeier in charge of the committal services.
