Orlando Brenna

Funeral services for George O. Brenna who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage Tuesday, April 10, 1962, were held Saturday, April 14 at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Don R. Hamilton officiating.

George Orlando Brenna was born April 10, 1869 on Gimso Island, Lofoten, Norway. He was baptized June 28, 1885 in Norway. As a young man he fished commercially for a livelihood.

On June 8, 1889 he immigrated to the United States coming to Great Falls, Montana where he homesteaded. On May 8, 1896 he became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

On January 17, 1905 he was united in marriage to Gurine T. Grove of St. Ansgar, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Grove Orlando. Mr. and Mrs. Brenna established their home on the farm of Mrs. Brennas' father, Tolef Grove, who came here as a member of the Clausen colony in 1853. In 1909 they moved to St. Ansgar where they resided for 30 years, returning to the farm in 1939 where he remained until three months prior to his death.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.

Survivors are his son, Orlando and several nieces and nephews. His wife and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
