Funeral services for Mrs. George "Orlando" (Helen) Brenna, 72, of St. Ansgar, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center December 26,1984 were held December 29 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Charles Bunk of Toeterville officiating.
Helen F. Brenna was born October 3, 1912 in Chapin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jones. Her parents died when she was young, and she was raised by a relative in Austin, Minn. where she finished high school. She was baptized at the Methodist church in Austin,Minn. She married a Mr. Willis and moved to Grand Meadow, Minn. where her husband was employed by the local newspaper. The couple divorced and she moved back to Austin where she worked as a clerk in the Woolworth Store for many years.
She and Orlando Brenna became acquainted and they were married March 12, 1949 at the Brenna farm four miles north of St. Ansgar by the Rev. O.A. Langehough. Mrs. Brenna was employed as a Nurse's Aid at the Good Samaritan Center here for 17 years. She was active in church work through the ALCW and helped distribute Meals On Wheels for senior citizens in St. Ansgar. The couple lived on the Brenna farm until 1974 when they moved to St. Ansgar.
Mrs. Brenna enjoyed excellent health until November 1984 when she suffered a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery at a Rochester, Minn. hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John. She is survived by her husband, Orlando; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Austin, Minn.; her nephews, Bob and Leland (Buck) Jones, and many friends.
Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Bunk in charge of committal services.
