Emma Maertens
Dies at St. Ansgar
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services for Emma Maertens, 79, will be held at the Catholic Church in St. Ansgar Saturday at 9 a.m. She died last Wednesday.
Mrs. Maertens was born in Belgium and came to the United States in 1903, where she lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Marshall, Minnesota, and St. Ansgar. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Lievrouw east of St. Ansgar as the result of a heart condition.
Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.
Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Osage.

Mrs. Emma Maertens
Word was received Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Emma Maertens, 78, of St. Ansgar, a former Council Bluffs resident. She died Wednesday after a short illness.
Mrs. Maertens was born in Belgium and came to the United States when she was a youth. She had lived here many years ago. She was a member of the St. Ansgar Catholic Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Leo of Council Bluffs, Sylvin of Nora Springs, and Morris of Cottonwood, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. George Boerjan and Mrs. Annie Lievrouw. both of St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Martha Anderson of Mason City: several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Requiem Mass was celebrated Saturday at St. Ansgar Catholic Church. Interment was in the Osage Catholic Cemetery.
