OBITUARY: Maynard S. Hanson, 1919-1981, Mitchell County, Iowa

Maynard S. Hanson
Funeral Held in Wadena, Minnesota

Funeral services for Maynard S. Hanson, 62, of Deer Creek, Minn., who died June 30 at a hospital in Norman, Ill., were held July 3 at the Messiah Lutheran church, Wadena, Minn.

Mr. Hanson suffered a massive heart attack as he and his wife were returning home from Nashville, Tenn. where they had attended the 7th Army Division reunion.

Maynard S. Hanson was born January 25, 1919 in Deer Creek township, Worth County, Iowa, son of Andrew and Hannah Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Deer Creek Lutheran church near Carpenter where he was a member until moving to Minnesota.

He received his elementary education at the Deer Creek township No. 6 rural school and graduated from Carpenter high school. He entered the Army in 1942 and was in the 7th Division and 23rd Infantry serving in the Aleutian Islands, Leyte and Korea before being discharged in the fall of 1945.

Mr. Hanson and Frances Stindt of Buffalo Center were married March 6, 1946. He worked in Mason City for Frank Embusk as an accountant and also farmed east of Northwood until moving. . . .
