Joseph Slaichert funeral held June 25
Funeral services for Joseph Jacob Slaichert, 81, who died June 22, 1997, were held Wednesday, June 25 at St. Ansgar Baptist Church with the Reverend Gary Gonnerman officiating.
Joseph Jacob Slaichert Jr. was born August 29, 1915 to Joseph and Anna Kolarek Slaichert in Mitchell. Joe began farming in 1940 north of St. Ansgar.
He married Luella Fox on October 26, 1940 in Northwood. In 1946 he began crop sharing with Axel Hansen Sr. In the spring of 1953, Joe purchased a farm south of St. Ansgar and resided there until his death.
Joe is survived by his wife, Luella of St. Ansgar; two sons, Harlan and wife Sharon, St. Ansgar; John and wife Debbie of Hampton; one daughter, Karen and her husband Donald Heldorfer of Bancroft; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Bocelewatz of Kansas City, Kansas; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents’ two brothers, William and Harlan; two sisters, Anna Poulas and Georgia Weed.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
