Funeral Services for Joe Wiggans Conducted Wednesday Afternoon

Last rites were conducted for Joe Wiggans Wednesday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul Brammer in charge of the services.

Joe Elbert Wiggans, son of Thomas and Eva Wiggans, was born July 9, 1877, at Danville, Illinois. He was baptized in the Methodist Church at Mahomet, Illinois, with which his parents were affiliated. He was confirmed with an adult class of Immanuel Lutheran Church at St. Ansgar on February 22, 1943.

The deceased was joined in marriage with Miss Martha Kuehl at St. Ansgar on October 26, 1919. The latter died July 29, 1941.

Having been engaged in various lines of business, as farmer, as laborer, he saw much of the “ups and downs” in life.

Mr. Wiggans suffered a stroke on August 19, 1942, and was taken to a hospital at Osage, and later to the Mitchell County Home where he spent 22 months as a bedfast invalid, receiving sympathetic care from the manager and matron of that institution. He bore his cross patiently and passed away peacefull last Sunday evening at 5 o’clock. He attained the age of 66 years, 8 months and 10 days.

He is survived by a daughter of his first marriage, and one brother, and one sister.
