MRS. DOROTHEA PAHL, COUNTY'S OLDEST RESIDENT, DECEASED

Funeral services were held on March 21, 1966, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, for Mitchell County's oldest resident, Mrs. Dorothea Pahl, age 102, who died March 17, 1966.

The Rev. Norman Betke, church pastor, was in charge of the services, and arrangements were by Schroeder and Houg of St. Ansgar. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Dorothea Louise Rohde was born April 12, 1886 in Zachan, Germany, the youngest of the seven children of Johann and Louise Dorothea Wachlin Rohde.

She was baptized May 3, 1878, in Zachan by the Rev. Mr. Lehman. Her parents died while she was still a young child and she spent a few years in an orphanage. When she was 19 she accompanied her older sister and family to the United States.

About two years after coming here, she was married to Frank Pahl, May 25, 1885. They made their home on a farm east of Grafton in Rock Township, Mitchell County, moving to St. Ansgar, in September, 1941.

Mrs. Pahl became a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar in 1915, transferring from St. John's Lutheran near Grafton.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank; two sons, Rudolph and August; two step-sons and one step-daughter.

Surviving are one son, Herman of St. Ansgar; two daughters, Mrs. Lena Kumm of Spring Valley, Minn., and Lydia Pahl of St. Ansgar; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
