Herman Henry Pahl
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services were held Friday, April 29, 1988 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, for Herman Henry Pahl, 93, of St. Ansgar. Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Mr. Pahl died Monday, April 25, 1988 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage.
He was born May 6, 1894 in Rock Township. He worked for area farmers by the month until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War I. He served with the Medical Corps in Georgia and was aboard a ship to France when the war ended. He was honorably discharged on January 19. 1919.
After his discharge, he worked for H.L. McKinley for 17 years and for the St. Ansgar Lumber Co. for 25 years. He retired from the lumber company in 1960.
He was married to Helena Neuman at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, in Grafton, on October 19, 1919.
He was a lifelong member of the St. Ansgar American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; two step-brothers; and one step-sister.
Survivors include his wife, Helena of St. Ansgar; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Cooper of Northwood; one son, Melvin of Mason City; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
