RICEVILLE, IOWA — Full military committal rites for Capt. Orville Severson of Riceville, who
was accidentally asphyxiated by gas fumes from a stove used to heat his quarters in Munich, Germany, where were Tuesday at Arlington National cemetery.
Attending the rites were Captain Severson's widow, his mother, Mrs. Ed Severson; of Riceville; his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ervay of Nora Springs; and two of his brothers, Sgt. Luther Severson, Ft. Riley; Kan., and Erling Severson, of Compton, Calif.
Also surviving Captain Severson are two other brothers, Willard, at home, and Milford, Lawler.
During World War II all of the Severson boys were in the service. On their return Milford returned to farming and Willard to his Work, as a patrolman, for the Howard County board of supervisors, Erling Severson is employed in California.
Captain Severson's father is blind.

While on Maneuvers
Funeral services are pending for Captain Orville Severson, 34, of Riceville, who died in Munich, Germany, last Thursday morning. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Severson of Riceville received word from Mrs. Orville Severson in Munich Thursday of the death of their son. They were informed later that death was due to monoxide poisoning from a stove in his barracks, while on maneuvers.
Orville Severson was born near Riceville, on March 10, 1922, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Severson. He attended the Jamestown school number 8, and was graduated from the Riceville school. He joined the National Guard in Mason City in January 1941, and spent two and one half years in the European theatre in World War II, returning to Fort Knox, Kentucky for officers training. He also spent 14 months in the Korean theatre.
He was married to a high school classmate, Winifred Mohr, at Fort Knox, on June 28, 1951. She has been with him during his assignment in Germany.
Surviving are his wife, Winifred, his parents, a sister Mr. Wayne Ervay of Nora Springs, four brothers, Willard, at home; Milford of Lawler; Erling of Compton, California; and Sergeant Luther Severson at home on leave from Germany, and awaiting re-assignment.
