Ruth Hutzell
Funeral services where held Monday, May 16, 1988 at St. Ansgar Baptist Church for Ruth Hutzell, 72, of St. Ansgar. The Reverend Gary Gonnerman officiated and burial was in the Osage city cemetery. Mrs. Hutzell died Saturday, May 14, 1988 at the St. Ansgar nursing home.
She was born December 5, 1916 in Dunn County, North Dakota to Oscar and Ida (Motland) Nodland. She moved with her family to the Plymouth are in 1919 where she attended rural schools and Plymouth High School.
She was united in marriage to Donald Hutzell in March 1934 in Cerro Gordo County. They lived in Cerro Gordo and Mitchell Counties and then moved to the Bancroft area where they worked at Welp’s Hatchery.
Mrs. Hutzell suffered a stroke in 1971 and has been a resident of various nursing centers since.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1986; her father; and two sons, Richard and Russell.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Carter of Yankton, South Dakota, Phyllis Gunsallus of Osage, and Mrs. John (Shirley) Darcey of Manitou Springs, Colorado; four sons, Jim and Don, both of Mason City, Ron of Topeka, Kansas, and Curtis of Mableton, Georgia; her mother, Ida During of Osage; one sister, Mrs. Rufus (Helen) Ginder of Mason City; one brother, Lawrence During of Osage; 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
