ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services for John O. Olson, 79, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First
Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Schroeder & Houg Funeral
Home in charge.

Born April 9, 1885, on a farm in Newburg Township, he was the son of Olaus and Gustava
Rustad Olson.

He was married to Edna Benton in 1927. They farmed until retiring to St. Ansgar in 1959.

Surviving are his wife, and son, George and three grandchildren.

OLSON, John O. 1885-1964

Funeral services for John O. Olson, 79, who died June 16, 1964 following a long illness, were held June 19 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.

John Olaf Olson was born April 9, 1885, on the home farm in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Olaus and Gustave Rustad Olson. He was baptized on May 31, 1885 and confirmed in the Norwegian language on June 10, 1900 in First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Johan Olsen. He was a life long member of First Lutheran Church. His father died when John was eight years old, and he had the responsibility of beginning farming at the age of sixteen. He was educated in the rural schools of Mitchell County and attended Mankato Business College, Mankato, Minn.

His marriage to Miss Edna Benton of Springville, Iowa, took place December 14, 1927. They established their home on the farm, remaining there until their retirement to St. Ansgar in January, 1959.

Mr. Olson was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, his sister, Olga, (Mrs. Arthur Doyle).

Surviving are his wife Edna; his son, George; and three grandchildren, Allan, Craig and Karen Olson.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal services.
