Last Rites Today for Mrs. Edwin Steinberg, 34

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Steinberg, 34, of St. Ansgar, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage Monday, May 18, 1953, were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar Thursday afternoon, May 21, with the Reverend H. C. Wolters officiating.

Mrs. Evelyn Louise Steinberg, daughter of Alfred Krueger and Lydia (nee Kirchgatter), was born February 7, 1919, in Barton Township, Worth County, Iowa. On March 16, 1919, she was baptized in the Grafton Lutheran Church by the Reverend John Landeck. She received her education in the Barton Township School. She was confirmed on April 9, 1933, in the Grafton Lutheran Church by the Reverend Carl Landeck.

On June 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edwin Steinberg at the Grafton Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Steinberg farm six miles southwest of St. Ansgar. Their union was blessed with two children, as son and a daughter. Aside from submitting to surgery in 1949 and in 1950, Mrs. Steinberg enjoyed good health.

Since her marriage she had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church here. She served as Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle.

On May 4 she fell down the basement steps at her home. She was taken to the hospital at Osage the next day and seemed on the way to recovery. She was apparently much improved last Sunday and Monday morning but died suddenly as a result of a blood clot at a little after 10 A.M. Monday. Mrs. Steinberg was 34 years, three months and 11 days old at the time of her death.

Survivors include her husband, son Frederick Dean, 12, daughter Carol Ann, 8; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Krueger; a sister, Mrs. Roy Rachut of Mitchell, two brothers, Elery Krueger of the U. S. Air Force in Omaha, Nebraska, and Wilfred at home; also her grandmother, Mrs. Emma Kirchgatter of Grafton; five nieces and one nephew.

Burial was in the Rock Township Lutheran Cemetery.
