Don Theis

Don Theis, age 73, of New Haven, died of cancer Monday, August 24, 2009, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven with Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:30 p.m.

Don was born September 30, 1935, on the family farm near New Haven, the son of Francis and Regina (Younker) Theis. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in New Haven in 1953. Don served in the Iowa National Guard.

On February 10, 1962, he married Patricia Johanns at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Don farmed his entire life. He enjoyed traveling and golfing.

Don is survived by his wife, Pat of Osage; a daughter, Jayne (Tim) Ness and their children, Emily, John, and Madeline of Birmingham, Alabama; a daughter, Laura (Dennis) Laudon and their children, Sarah, Alex, Thomas, Joseph, Mary, and William of Rochester, Minnesota; a daughter, Linda (Richard) Thrasher and their children, Jenna and Ryan of Wayzata, Minnesota; a son, Karl (Misty) Theis and their children, Matthew and Kara of Osage; a son, Mark (Sarah) Theis and their children, Jack and Alexis of Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; three sisters, Dolores Steffen of Riceville, Catherine Marr of Fort Worth, Texas, Pauline Ovel of New Hampton; and one brother, Dean (Bonnie) Theis of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Joseph Donald.

Arrangements are by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage (641) 732-3706.
