Frank Zacharda Funeral Services November 5 at Immanuel Lutheran
Funeral services for Frank Joseph Zacharda, age 73, who died Sunday November 2, were held Wednesday, November 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating. Burial was in the St. Ansgar city Cemetery.
Frank Joseph Zacharda, eldest son of Frank and Marie (nee Rence) Zacharda was born July 6, 1913 in St. Ansgar Township. He was baptized on February 18, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Brammer. He attended school at Spring Valley and St. Ansgar High School were he was active in athletics. He graduated with the class of 1934.
On December 16, 1939 he was united in marriage with Elfrieda Priem at Immanuel parsonage by the Rev. Paul Brammer. Two children were born to them, daughter Frances, who lives in Austin, Minnesota, and son Ronald of Bloomington, Minnesota.
He spent all his life farming near St. Ansgar, retiring to St. Ansgar in 1975. He was interested in sports and had been a member of the Iowa City “I” Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Elfrieda of St. Ansgar; a daughter, Frances of Austin, Minnesota; a son, Ronald and wife, Deborah of Bloomington, Minnesota, and three grandchildren, Eric, Theresa and Sarah Zacharda; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wright of Charles City and Mrs. Warren (Rosie) Anderson of Austin, Minnesota; two brothers, Eddie of St. Ansgar and George of St. Ansgar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Rudy, and an infant sister, Mary.
