Last Rites Conducted For Mrs. Adam Bauer On Wednesday Afternoon
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Amanda Bauer. Interment was made at the church cemetery, Reverend Brammer officiating.
Amanda Louise Auguste Bauer nee Miller was born June 4, 1879, in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, June 8th of the same year. Here she was also confirmed March 26, 1893.
On May 2, 1900, she was married to Mr. Adam Bauer. This union was blessed with nine children, one dying in early infancy. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bauer lived on a farm in Rock Township for nice years, then moved to New Salem, North Dakota. After farming there for sixteen years, they retired and came to St. Ansgar in August, 1928, making their home here ever since.
Mrs. Bauer was in good health all these years until about five years ago, when she became ailing more or less. Foure weeks ago her health failed visibly. The last three weeks she was confined to her bed and became weaker until she fell asleep last Sunday morning at 4:30. Mrs. Bauer reached the age of 63 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Her departure is mourned by her husband; her daughters: Mrs Herman Wilkens, New Salem, North Dakota; Mrs. Fred Simon, Osage, Iowa; Mrs. Raymond Hansen, Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. George Nath, Waterloo, Iowa; her son, Arthur, and her daughters Caroline and Joyce still at home; and eight grandchildren; also by one brother and two sisters.
