Mrs. Merritt Beaman Funeral Services Held May 4 at St. Ansgar Catholic Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Merritt (Shirley) Beaman, 60, of St. Ansgar, who died Tuesday, May 2, 1981 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, were held Thursday, May 4, 1981 at St. Ansgar Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Heinemann officiating.
Mrs. Beaman was born August 12, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri to Clarence and Edna (Schroell) Morice. She grew up in the St. Louis area attending school there. She met her husband, Merritt, while he was stationed in the St. Louis area. They were married October 19, 1945, in St. Louis. They moved to Mondamin where they lived until 1951 when they moved to St. Ansgar.
Mrs. Beaman worked for 30 years at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, where her duties included running the dialysis machine and most recently in the nursery. She was a member of the St. Ansgar Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Legion Auxiliary, and a member of PALS. They also hosted tow exchange students. She enjoyed the outdoors, swimming, camping, dancing and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Merritt of St. Ansgar, two sons, Meritt of West Des Moines and David of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Debuse) Hackenmiller of Waterloo; four grandchildren; and an aunt, Ella Schroell of St. Louis, Missouri.
Burial was at the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
