Lewis Blakestad Funeral Services Wednesday at First Lutheran Church
Funeral services for Lewis G. Blakestad, 74, who died Monday, October 27, [1986] at his home, were held Wednesday, October 29, at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating.
Mr. Blakestad was born October 17, 1912 at Lyle, Minnesota, the son of Oliver and Lona Williams Blakestad. He was baptized by the Rev. Moe and confirmed by the Rev. Langehough. He attended Lyle public school and enlisted in the Air Corp January of 1941 where he was a flight engineer, co-piloting troops back and fourth overseas until 1945.
He was united im marriage to Elva Anderson March 4, 1943 and worked for L. R. Falk Construction Company as a shovel operator and foreman until he retired in April of 1979. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and one sister, Mabel Reistad of Hackensack, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Elva; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Glenda) Belz of St. Ansgar; three grandchildren; five sisters, Myrtle Tollefson of St. Ansgar; Leonore Meyers of Woodland, California; Loreen Greiner of Winnebago, Minnesota; Esther Falk of St. Ansgar; and Lona Davidson of Faribault, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter.
