OSAGE, IOWA — Elvin Docken, 77, died Thursday evening at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital Funeral service will be at Rock Creek Lutheran Church and burial in the church cemetery;
Arrangements are incomplete at Champion Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife the former Olga Odden; a son Galen, both of Osage, a daughter, Mrs. C. A. (Emily) Brimmer, Rawlins, Wyo.; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Netlie Maakestad and Mrs. Olava Peterson, both of Osage.

Elvin J. Docken, 1886-1964, Mitchell Co., Iowa

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Rock Creek Lutheran church for Elvin J. Docken, 77, who died last Thursday. Mr. Docken had been in failing health since November, and had undergone surgery at Memorial hospital in December. He was re-admitted to the hospital the day of his death.

The Rev. John Quam, church pastor, was in charge of the services. C.R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements and burial was in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Elvin Julius Docken was born December 19, 1886 in Cedar Township, on the Docken homestead, the son of Tidemand and Gunhild Asleson Docken. He was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran church, where he remained a lifelong member.

His marriage to Olga Mathilda Odden took place on September 19, 1923. He spent most of his life in Mitchell County with the exception of a period of military service in World War I and ten years in Long Beach, California following their marriage.

His parents, two brothers and six sisters preceded Mr. Docken in death.

Surviving are his wife, Olga; one son, Galen of rural Osage; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence A. (Emily) Brimmer of Rawlins, WY; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Maakestad and Mrs. Olava Peterson of Osage and several nieces and nephews.
