OSAGE, IOWA -- Margie M. Lesch, 82, of Osage, died on Tuesday, June 6, 1995, at the Faith Home in Osage of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church of Osage, with the Rev. Clark Christian officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour before services at the church.

Margie was born March 4, 1913 near Osage in Mitchell County, the daughter of John Pickering and Emma (nee) Wright Pickering. Margie graduated from Osage High School and secured her teacher's certificate at Iowa State Teacher's College, now U.N.I.

On Aug. 1, 1935, she married Ralph Lesch. The couple made their home in Osage where they lived until Margie's death. Margie taught school and formed her own private kindergarten and later nursery school. The school provided early childhood education for many Osage children for over 40 years. Now some of her same equipment is being used by the Growing Tree School at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Margie was also involved in farming operations in Mitchell County. She was a member of United Methodist Church where she was active many years in the church school and the United Methodist Women on the local and district level. She was an active member of the Osage Women's Club for many years. In 1966, the ``Press-News'' honored her as an outstanding citizen.

In 1977 she was honored for outstanding contributions to the Hereford Auxiliary substantiating her devotion to the family cattle operation.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph of Osage; and one daughter, Kay Williams of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother in infancy.
