Marie was born in Glenwood, Iowa, on August 18, 1901, daughter of Joseph and Lydia Winter. Marie received her education in Glenwood. As a young girl, Marie made the most important decision of her life. Realizing she was dead in sin and that Christ died for her sins on the cross, she by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ into her life as her personal Saviour. She loved the lord, lived for Him, and desired to make Him known to others.

On February 23, 1923, Marie married Charles Gonnerman at the home of her parents in Glenwood. Charles and Marie farmed in the Dysart area and in December of 1965 retired to their home on Clark Street in Dysart.

Preceded in death by Charles in April of 1982, Marie remained in Dysart where she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and actively served her Lord until she moved to the Worth Living Retirement Home at St. Ansgar, in September of 1988.

In February of 1992, she moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar, where Marie died and went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 1995.

Marie is survived by five sons, Burnell of Ankeny, Dean of Oregon City, Oregon, LaVern of Ankeny, Gary of St. Ansgar, and Allen of Montgomery, Illinois; six daughters, Mrs. Angelene Dwyer of Elkader, Virginia Gonnerman of Toledo, Maydine Gonnerman of St. Ansgar, Iowa; VirJean Gonnerman of Union Grove, Wisconsin; and Lorraine Gonnerman of Dinorwic, Ontario, Canada; as well as 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family is greatly comforted to know their mother is with the Lord.
