Henry Knechtges, Retired Builder, is Dead at Osage

OSAGE, IOWA -- Henry Knechtges, 71. died Thursday evening, November 14, 1935, after a long illness. His funeral will be Sunday, November 16, 1935, with services at Champion funeral home at 2 p.m. Rev. F.A. Court, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church here, will officiate. Interment will be at Osage cemetery.

Mr. Knechtges was a contractor and carpenter, and constructed many of the finer residencies of this community. He retired two years ago.

He was born in Springfield, Dane county, Wisconsin, coming to Charles City in 1864 and to Osage in 1896. His marriage to Lillian Fish occurred at Charles City on September 29, 1885.

Survivors are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. William Young arid Mrs. Earl Penney; two sisters and two brothers, as named: Mrs. Charles Elliott, Rock Island, Illinois, Mrs. Roy Allan, Rockford; Paul Knechtges. St. Paul, Minnesota, and Anthony Knechtges, Minneapolis.

Henry was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel Knechtges Brunette (b: 1885) who died in 1934.
