Funeral services for A. N. Lund, 86, former president of the First National Bank of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and father of Mrs. Adeline Allen, 111 Independence Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa, who died Tuesday evening [2 FEB 1937] at his home in St. Ansgar, were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church by Rev. Brammer, pastor. Burial was at St. Ansgar.

Lund was born in Denmark in [October] 1850. He came to the United States and was one of the pioneer settlers at St. Ansgar. His wife died about six years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Adeline Allen and Mrs. E. A. [Jennie] Sponheim, St. Ansgar, a son, John Lund, Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nettie [Mrs. Adolph Christopher Lund] Lund, St. Ansgar; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Miss Mary Allen, 224 South Street, Waterloo, Mrs. King Donahoe, Des Moines, and Larry Allen, Los Angeles, California, are grandchildren of Mr. Lund.

NOTES: A.N. Lund was a farmer and also helped establish the First National Bank, and was the first president of the bank.

Funeral Rites For A. N. Lund Here Today

Funeral services were held this afternoon for Andrew N. Lund, 86, who died at his home in St. Ansgar, Tuesday evening, February 2, 1937, following an illness of the last few weeks. Services where held at the First Lutheran Church with Reverend Olaf A. Langehough officiating. Interment was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Andrew N. Lund was born in Denmark, October 20, 1850. At the age of 20 he came with his parents to St. Ansgar where he spent the remainder of his life.

In 1872 he married Dorothea M. Petersen. To this union four children were born. Mrs. Adeline Allen, at home. Mrs. Jennie Sponheim, St. Ansgar; John P. St. Ansgar, Adolph, deceased in 1911.

Throughout his mature life Mr. Lund was engaged in many industrial commercial and spiritual activities. As a young man he operated a farm in the township of St. Ansgar three miles northeast of the city. For nearly 25 years he was engaged in the lumber business, selling out in 1914 when he went into the banking business. For 20 years he was president of the First National bank in this city.

Mr. Lund commanded the highest respect of the entire community and has taken an active part in promoting anything that would better St. Ansgar and its environs.

He was always interested in civic activities and served on the council as mayor, and on the school board. For many years he served as town treasurer and served in that capacity until two years ago. He was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar and served as treasurer for many years.

Mrs. Lund died in 1930 ending 58 years of happy marital partnership. In 1922 Mr. and Mrs. Lund celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in which the entire church and community shared in the happy festivity.

Mr. Lund is survived by his three children, one sister, Mrs. Mary Fedsen, Austin, nine grandchildren, and a large number of relatives and friends.

Pall bearers were T. H. Hume, O.H. Kock, Albert Halvorson, J.P. Hansen, Ed Rosenberg and H.K. Dahl.
