OSAGE, IOWA -- Funeral rites are pending for Victor Kerckhove, 70, who died Friday at his home. He was hospitalized for 10 weeks in Mason City, and at home this last week. A heart condition caused death.
He was born on August 27, 1879 in Belgium. There he married Marie Devos, and the couple came to America in 1910, first to Moline, Illinois, where he was employed as a factory worker. Later, in 1914, he farmed near Lyle, Minnesota. He moved to St. Ansgar in 1939, and then to Osage in 1946.
He leaves his wife, four sons: Robert of Bloomer, Wisconsin, Gerald of Rockford, Iowa, Albert of St. Ansgar; Frank, of Lyle, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Elvin Nerad of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Arthur Priem, of Carpenter; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, Rene of Detroit, Michigan, Henry of Chicago, Illinois, Cyril of Moline, Illinois, and Charles in Belgium; and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Compernolle, in Belgium.
