OSAGE, IOWA - funeral services will be at 1:15 Thursday at the home and at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church for William Affeldt, 78, who died of an embolism on Sunday at the home of his daughter, northeast of Osage.

He had undergone major surgery at the University Hospital, Iowa City, following a fall at his farm home resulting in a fractured hip. He had returned to the home of his daughter Saturday afternoon, apparently reovering satisfactorily.

In charge of rites will be the Reverend E. H. Yohr, with Burial in the Osage Cemetery, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, Julius, Lodi, California; Reuben and Walter of Chicago, Harold of Riceville, one daughter, Mrs. DeVere Knapp, Little Cedar, two brothers, The Reverend Christian Affeldt, Elgin, Minnesota, and Emil, Wycoff, Minnesota; and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Witt and Mrs. Fred Kohlmeyer, Spring Valley, Minnesota, and Mrs. Alfred Witt, Truman, Minnesota.

LAST RITES FOR
WILLIAM AFFELDT
ARE HELD TODAY

Funeral services for William F. G. Affeldt, 78, will be held today, Thursday, at 1:15 p.m. at the DeVere Knapp home in Little Cedar and at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. The Rev. E. Yohr will officiate. Burial will be made in the Osage Cemetery. Mr. Affeldt died on Sunday, February 20, 1949, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. DeVere Knapp near Little Cedar.

William G. Affeldt was born in Columbus, Wisconsin, January 29, 1871, to Julius and Wilamina Affeldt. At the age of five his parents moved to a farm southeast of Wykoff, Minnesota, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage on December 18, 1900, to Katie Bender at Wykoff, and they settled on a farm next to the home farm where they lived for 33 years.

For sons and one daughter were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Affeldt and family moved to a farm near Riceville in November, 1933. The past ten years they have lived in the vicinity of Osage.

He received his education in the rural school near Wykoff, was baptized and received his religious training in the Lutheran church, of which he was an active and faithful member to his death.

Mr. Affeldt fell on the ice on February 3, 1949, breaking his hip. He was taken to the hospital at Iowa City where he underwent surgery. As he was recovering satisfactorily, he was brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. DeVere Knapp, near Little Cedar to convalese. A blood clot brought sudden death late Sunday afternoon.

Surviving are his wife; four sons: Rueben and Walter of Chicago, Julius of Lodi, Calif., Harold of Riceville, and one daughter, Mrs. Devere (Florence) Knapp of Little Cedar. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Witt and Mrs. Fred Kohlmeyer of Spring Valley, Minnesota; Mrs. Alfred Witt of Truman, Minnesota; and two brothers, Emil Affeldt of Wykoff, Minnesota, and the Rev. C. A. Affeldt of Elgin, Minnesota.
