Funeral services were held for Clifford A. Robertson, 48, Thursday afternoon [Oct. 28, 1965] at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. The Rev. William Kamke of Toeterville was in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Robertson died at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester following surgery. Hunting alone, he apparently slipped in the mud in a field near his home. He was found by Harold Nickerson who was combining beans at the time.

Clifford Andrew Robertson was born in Mitchell County, December 14, 1916, the son of Nels and Helene (Hansen) Robertson. He was baptized by the Rev. Moe at Mona Lutheran Church and was confirmed by the Rev. Olaf Langehough in the same church. He attended rural school at Union township No. 3 and later at Otranto where he was graduated in 1935.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Priem of Otranto, on October 15, 1938. They farmed in Union township northwest of Toeterville for 27 years.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar where he willingly served on the building committee and in various other capacities. He was secretary for the Union No. 3 school district for 20 years, and was a member of the Farm Bureau where he also served on various committees.

Preceding him in death were his mother, and twins who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Gary (Karen) of Lyle, Wayne, a student at State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls and a daughter, Judy, at home; two grandchildren, David and Deanne; his father, Nels Robertson; two brothers, Martin of Lyle, Oscar of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Florence) Swenson of Enderlin, North Dakota, Mrs. Roy (Esther) Daub of Nome, North Dakota, Mrs. Emil (Lillian) Johnson of St. Ansgar and several nieces and nephews.
