Rites Pending for Woman at Osage
OSAGE, IOWA -- Osage's oldest resident, Mrs. Lillian Knechtges, 97, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Penney, in Osage. Tentative rites are set for Sunday at 2:30 at the Champion Funeral Home, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.
Mrs. Knechtges was born Lillian Fish on August 3, 1858, to Nathaniel and Nancy Fish. She came to Union Township as a child. Her marriage to Henry Knechtges took place in 1885. They lived in Charles City until 1896 and then moved to Osage.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William Young and Mrs. Penney, both of Osage; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, two daughters and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
