MISS PAULINE CECELIA GISLESON

OSAGE, IOWA -- Services for Miss Pauline Cecelia Gisleson, 82, who died Monday night at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church; burial in the Osage Cemetery; survivors include one brother, William P. Gisleson of Charles City; two nieces and one nephew.

Pauline Ceselie Gisleson was born July 28, 1888 at Marion, Clayton, Iowa to Peter H. Gisleson and Kjersti Clara Olsdatter, the fifth of their six children and their only daughter. Pauline never married, nor had children.

Found in the 1895 census living at Marion, Clayton, Iowa. The family moved west about 1896 and settled on a farm near Orchard, rural Floyd County, Iowa.

Found in the 1900 - 1920 censuses at rural Orchard, Floyd, Iowa:

1900: Peter F. Gisleson 45, Clara Gisleson 48, Henry O. Gisleson 23, George Gisleson 21, Olven R. Gisleson 17, William P. Gisleson 15, Paulina C. Gisleson 11, Clarence S. Gisleson 5.

1910: Peter Gisleson 55, Clara Gisleson 58, Henry Oscar Gisleson 34, George Gisleson 32, Clarence S. Gisleson 15, Pauline Gisleson 20.

Also found in the 1910 census living as a boarder at Charles City, Floyd, Iowa, 20 years old, working as a stenographer in a garden nursery office.

1920: P. H. Gislason 64, Clara Gislason 68, Henry Gislason 42, George Gislason 40, Pauline Gislason 30, Clarence Gislason 25.

Found in the 1940 census at Charles City, Floyd, Iowa: William Gisleson 56, Ann Gisleson 55, Pauline Gisleson 50.

Pauline lived at Charles City, Floyd, Iowa for much of the 1940's and 1950's.

Pauline died October 11, 1971 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Funeral services wil be held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m., for Miss Pauline Gisleson, 82, who died Monday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital.

Rev. I. Kitzmann will be in charge of the rites at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being made by C.R. Champion and Sons, and burial will be in the Osage cemetery.

Pauline Cecilia Gisleson was born at Elgin, Clayton county, Iowa, on July 28, 1889, the daughter of Peter H. and Clara Olson Gisleson. She moved from Clayton county to a farm near Orchard when she was six years old. She was confirmed in 1904, at the Osage Lutheran church. In later years she worked in St. Paul and Charles City, retiring to Osage.

Miss Gisleson was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Henry, Clarence, George and Olvin; and by one infant sister, Pauline.

Survivors include one brother, William Gisleson of Charles City; two nieces, Mrs. Frances Wiseman of Sheffield and Mrs. Candace Purvis of Marshalltown; one nephews, Everett Gisleson of Floyd; and ten grand nieces and nephews.
