OBITUARY:

[Oelwein Daily Register -- Monday, August 14, 1978]

Funeral services held for Shaw

OELWEIN, IOWA - Funeral services were held (today) Monday afternoon at the Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein for Kermit R. Shaw, 64 of Oelwein, who died Friday at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.

Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery.

The Hintz Funeral Home in Oelwein was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Howard Shaw of Racine, Wisconsin; one daughter, Mrs James (Sandra) Coleman of Boca Raton, Florida; six grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Herron of Des Moines, Mrs. Alfred (Florence) Stewart of Oelwein, and Mrs. Edith Gerstenberger of Oelwein, and one brother, Donald Shaw of Davenport.

KERMIT SHAW TO TEACH AT SUMNER

Kermit Shaw of Oelwein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Shaw, has signed a contract to teach mathematics, industrial arts and coach in the Sumner High School.

He is a graduate of the Oelwein High School and received his college degree at Upper Iowa University at Fayette where he was all conference end in football for two years. He has taught at Clemons, Livermore, Gladbrook and Newton.
