James L. Larson, 52, of Saint Ansgar, brother of D. A. Larson of Cresco, and former Cresco resident, died Friday following an illness of several months.

His illness was first noted July 23, 1953 and became increasingly more serious as the weeks passed. He had spent eight weeks in the hospitals at Osage and at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. His illness was diagnosed as incurable.

Funeral services were held yesterday in the St. Ansgar First Lutheran Church, the Reverend Olaf A. Langehoush in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.

James Leland Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Larson, was born on a farm near Otranto, October 12, 1901. He was baptized and confirmed in the Deer Creek Lutheran Church by the Reverend M. E. Waldeland, and attended country school near Otranto. He was graduated from the Otranto High School.

Mr. Larson was married to Mae Tollefson April 18, 1931. The early part of Mr. and Mrs. Larson's marriage was spent on a farm north of St. Ansgar. On moving to St. Ansgar, Mr. Larson became a member of the First Lutheran Church where he became an active worker. He served as assistant superintendent of the Sunday School for several years and served as president of the St. Ansgar circuit Lutheran Brotherhood for four years.
