OSAGE, IOWA - Florentine Moody, age 98, of Osage, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Assisted Living, Iowa Hospice, or Faith Lutheran Home.
Florentine was born to Iver and Lydia (Schulte) Tidemanson on August 25, 1910, at Mitchell. She attended Mitchell Consolidated School for eleven years, graduating from Osage High School in 1928. Florentine attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids for two years, transferring to Iowa State University, graduating in 1932 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics education. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha National Social Sorority.
Florentine was united in marriage to Robert G. Moody on June 5, 1934. To this union was born a daughter, LaVonne, and a son, James. She was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron four different times. She was also a district instructor for five years and was a state officer as Grand Martha. She was on the Barthel O.E.S. Home Board, Decorah, Iowa, for five years and served as president. Florentine was active in the Methodist Church, was chairman of her circle, and took part in other activities. In her later years, she attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Florentine was also active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed playing bridge and working in her flower garden.
Survivors include one daughter, LaVonne (Sam Horne) Bunch of Indialantic, Fla.; one son, James (Dorothy) Moody of Osage; four grandsons, Thomas (Ruth) Bunch of Tucson, Ariz., John Bunch of Grand Junction, Colo., Michael (Nancy) Moody of Louisville, Ky., Timothy (Lin) Moody of San Diego, Calif.; three granddaughters, Sherry (John) Rice of West Melbourne, Fla., Shelly (James) Larson of Minneapolis, Minn., Jennifer (Joseph) Dye of Louisville, Ky.; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert Moody, in 1990; a brother, Jack Tidemanson; and a sister-in-law, Zella Boggess.
