Randy Dwight Ziegler, age 58, of the Lyle-London area, died on June 1, 2009 at the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on October 10, 1950 to Donald Dean and Dona Jean (Johannsen) Ziegler in Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa. He was a 1968 graduate of Lyle High School. After completing his education, Randy served his country with the Marines from 1968 until 1971. A Vietnam veteran, he belonged to Lyle American Legion Post 105. He married Vickie Vosburgh on June 8, 1974. They were later divorced. Past Fire Chief of London and a self-employed painter, Randy was employed by Zareba Industries in Ellendale.

Survivors include his mother, Dona Ziegler, Lyle; two daughters, Megan and Sarah Ziegler, Austin; granddaughter, Alyssa Bos; two brothers, Darwin (Kathy) Ziegler, Farmington; Gary (Cindy) Ziegler, Lyle; former spouse, Vickie Ziegler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; sister, Gail; special friend, Marion Sorenson and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin with the Reverend Dr. Andrew Lindahl officiating. Interment will be in Union Presbyterian Cemetery, Stacyville, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Casket bearers will be Monte Strouf, Larry Vosburgh, Michael Nelson, Dallas Vosburgh, Mark Olson and Carl Ellis. Honorary casket bearers are David Rawn, Roy Vosburgh, Dwight Goslee, Dale Wahlen, Bob Sauer and Roger Smith.
