Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. for Catherine Fox, 83, of Osage. She died Monday, August 15, 1988 at Faith Home in Osage. Rev. Leon Connolly will officiate and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with a rosary at 3 and 7:30 p.m.
Catherine was born May 10, 1905 in Osage to William and Margaret (Dowd) Eagan. She attended Osage schools and Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught in rural schools near New Haven. On November 27,1925, she was married to Ralph J Fox. The couple farmed in the New Haven and Orchard areas.
Mrs. Fox was a member of Legion Auxiliary and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in December 1980; one infant daughter; and two sisters.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Delores) Faley of Waterloo, Sister Pauline Fox of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Richard (Ann) Stanek of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. James (Judy) Leonard of Iowa City; three sons, Ralph Jr. of Orchard, William of Osage and Lawrence of Marshalltown; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Catherine was the last of her generation, originating in 1878.
