Leona Newell
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 1988 at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, for Leona Newell, 85, of Osage. The Reverend Roger Hubbard of Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, will officiate and burial will be 1:20 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. She died Sunday September 25, 1988 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage of natural causes.
She was born November 30, 1902 in Grafton and attended Grafton schools.
On Sept. 6, 1925, she was married to Donald C. Newell at Mason City. They lived in Spirit Lake, Mason City, and moved to Osage in 1963. In 1980, they moved to Omaha to be near their family.
Leona returned to Osage in 1982 after Mr. Newell died. She worked as a homemaker helper from 1974 to 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Roy, Hank and August.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Phylis) Graff of Overland Park, Kansas, one son, Donald L. of Rosebud, Arkansas**; one sister, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Colbertson of Northwood; four grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
