William Fries, 75, of St. Ansgar, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, died on August 4, 1989 at the Stacyville Nursing Home of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating. Burial is to take place Wednesday morning at Independence, Missouri.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1914, in Indiana Harbor, Indiana, a son of Adam and Susanna (Kovaks) Fries. He was a World War II veteran. He moved to Sugar Creek, Missouri, at the age of 2, where he attended school. After school he worked for Cessna Aircraft, Omaha, Nebraska.
He married Rose Thorson, January 22, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, where they lived until moving to St. Ansgar in January 1989. He was a member of the Children's Memorial Lutheran Church, Kansas City.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, St. Ansgar; two brothers, Louie Fries, Sugar Creek, Missouri, and Steve Fries, Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
